Prabha’s Indian Restaurant, located in downtown Hilo, has everything you want in a meal – and more. It offers bold flavors at a fair price for any kind of foodie. The restaurant is also vegetarian and vegan. All of the food served at Prabha’s is GMO, gluten, pesticide and MSG free. Natalie B., a recent transfer student, said, “I am not a vegetarian, but I always like eating at this restaurant.”
Natalie also said, “I really enjoy the spiciness of Indian food. It makes sense to eat Indian food because I don’t know how to make it.” She explained that it would be difficult to make this food because of the “secret seasonings” they use, as stated on their website, indianfoodhilo.com. The food at Prabha’s has a unique blend of seasonings to make the taste buds tingle. Most of the food is spicy with the curry, which can give unexpected health benefits. The restaurant serves rice along with several other traditional style Indian dishes.
One especially desirable aspect of Prabha’s is that guests can serve themselves, Yogurtland-style. Payment is based on the weight of the food, so you only pay as much as you want to. Of course, for those of us who prefer to eat at the park, they have to-go boxes. However, the atmosphere in the restaurant is also very pleasant and noticeably clean, inviting guests to stay and talk.
The restaurant hours are lunchtime from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. throughout the week, and dinner from 5 pm to 8:30 pm. If you are ever looking for a reasonably priced, healthy, delicious meal, stop by Prabha’s off of Keawe St. downtown. You won’t be disappointed.
